Disposal requirements vary

Dispose used fuel filters in the garbage after you drain the fuel from them.

  1. Turn the filter upside down to drain the fuel into an airtight container. Dispose of the waste and bring it to one of the hazardous waste collection sites listed below (eligible businesses only).
  2. Allow the drained filter to dry out for two days and dispose of dry, drained fuel filters in the garbage.

If the fuel cannot be drained from the filter, take it to one of the household hazardous waste collection sites listed below (eligible businesses only). Businesses must bring a completed disposal form to the disposal location. Businesses are allowed a maximum of four visits per year.

Does my business qualify for no-fee disposal?
